Happy Campers: Enhancing Social Competence in Adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder at Summer Camp

Many adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) experience challenges in social competence. Evidence suggests that specialized summer camps skills training may have positive outcomes on competence development ADHD. This article reports a pilot study of therapeutic camp program for children and The examines the degree to which objectives were achieved through pre-camp, post-camp design using series standardized instruments, evaluations, surveys parents. results indicated campers initially reported significantly lower when compared normative sample before but improved their by end camp. research has implications researchers, caregivers, outdoor education advocates take an assertive lead promoting evidence-based psychosocial programs youth without ADHD into more generalizable community settings.
